Ms Abdelnoor and Ms Al-Sanea took a group of year 7 and 8 boys to ‘The Hidden Treasures of the Mary Rose’ Exhibition at Whitgift School, South Croydon on 6 July 2009. The exhibition is open until 1 September 2009 and entrance is free for school groups. There is a choice of activities and workshops in which children can participate.
Our group were given a tour of the exhibition, played a variety of interactive games and enjoyed a workshop identifying a variety of artefacts found on the Mary Rose. An object that the boys thought might be a fishing rod, weapon or candle lighter turned out to be a canon lighter (linstock). The exhibition staff were very welcoming and managed to engage the boys for the full 2½ hour visit!
