After cruising through to the final the Year 7 team managed by Mr Afful was prepared for a spectacular show down at the Croydon Arena.

The team left school around 1.20pm on Tuesday 28th in high spirits knowing that nothing but a win would be an acceptable result.
The team arrived at the Arena amidst cheers from strong parental support. Mr. Afful and Curtis took the team through the usual warm up exercise and the starting line-up was announced.

The match kicked off around 2pm after team Captain Issa had led his team mates to exchange pleasantries with Harris Academy (Crystal Palace). Lanfranc came out strongly with the early exchanges winning most of the 50-50 balls. They kept possession very well and played some beautiful football. After a little resistance from the Harris team, Trey playing down the right of midfield dribbled beautiful past two Harris players and created a chance for Kyle Spence to hit home down the right from 15yards. The second goal came inside 15 minutes when Kyle Spence connected with a cross from Kelvin Thompson to volley home his second. In-form striker Issa scored twice in quick succession to give the boys from Archbishop Lanfranc an insurmountable lead.

In the second half, Harris raised their game but a man of the match performance by Tyrese Folkes combined with a gallant display from midfield quartet of Daniel, Trey, Courtney and Kelvin was enough to contain Harris. Goalkeeper Sam Lemon was equal to the task with some brilliant saves and organised his backline of Tyrese, Dominic, Alfie and Ashley very well on the day.

The final score was 4-0 to Archbishop Lanfranc. Manger Mr Afful and special team advisor Mr Curtis could not hide their delight at the team’s achievement.
