Dear Parents
Ofsted inspection
The report summarising the outcomes of the recent Ofsted inspection is now available. You will be pleased to note the very many positive comments about our school, some of which I have included below:
- “..staff know pupils very well and give generously of their time to support them in a wide range of ways, systems focus on the needs of individuals..”
- “The school is well led.”
- “..the good leadership, and the positive ethos established in the school, mean that its capacity to improve is good.”
- “The targets the school sets for pupils’ achievement are demanding, and they encourage pupils to strive to do well.”
- “The school is a diverse yet harmonious community..”
- “..pupils behave well and are motivated to learn. They are proud of their school and enjoy their time there. They are confident, yet polite and courteous.”
- “An excellent range of extra-curricular activities for pupils, particularly in sport and the performing arts, supports their outstanding social development.”
- “..an improving picture of progress in lessons..due to the good quality of teaching”
- “..teachers establish a good pace of learning in lessons, set high standards and have clear expectations for what pupils can achieve.”
- “The school provides an outstanding level of care and support for its pupils. Staff prioritise pupils’ personal safety, progress and happiness.”
- “A parent of a Year 8 pupil wrote to the inspectors to say, “This school is so good because they care for every child”.”
- “Pupils’ progress is checked regularly and closely, and senior staff work hard to ensure that those who may be underachieving stay on track.”
- “The headteacher’s vision to secure the highest quality of pupil welfare and well-being, and the best outcomes for every child in the school, is communicated clearly and is shared by all staff. This ensures that the school has a strong ethos and that there is a sense of pride among staff and pupils for the quality of their work together.”
- “The school fulfils a very effective leading role in its locality, reaching out and embracing the community in all of its work. It is a true community school in all respects..”
The areas the inspectors have suggested we seek to develop will be addressed. As ever, the staff and governors will ensure that any changes are not only carefully planned and implemented but are also in the genuine best interest of our pupils and our wider community. In particular we are confident that we will continue to receive your support in our daily determination to raise standards of attainment.
You can access the full report on our website, www.lanfranc.com, from today and over the next few days it will appear on the Ofsted website, www.ofsted.gov.uk. If however you would prefer a “hard copy” please contact the school and this will be arranged.
Yours sincerely
D C Clark, Headteacher
