School Council Meeting - 14 October 2011

On the Agenda:

  • Progress from last year’s School Council suggestions
  • 3G pitch - should it be opened?
  • Fundraising
  • Once a month food changes

Progress from last year

  • Extra 5 minutes are helping at lunch
  • Gives you time to queue
  • Still long queues
  • Longer break time (45 minutes) would  mean school ending later

3G pitch - should it be opened at lunch times?

  • The sports hall is open at lunch
  • Messing up the artificial surface
  • Not allowed to bring food on it
  • Expensive to replace

General opinion was ‘no’ to this suggestion as there were concerns that the pitch would be ruined by unsupervised use.

More mini-bus fundraising

  • Mufti days are a success
  • Stealing stickers/ making a list of who has paid? Tutors collect it themselves
  • Getting boring
  • List of people who haven’t paid
  • Stage, pay to sing – the busking was successful

Decision to ask staff to chase those who have not paid.  This will be done via Leadership Group.

Once a month food changes

  • We really enjoy the ‘Italian Day’ on Languages Day
  • Jerk Chicken – can we have more flavour?
  • We are not used to other cultures food
  • Opportunity to try new foods
  • Not  allowed salt on tables
  • It’s good for us to try foods from other countries
  • A different country’s food each month e.g. Spain, India...

Walid will speak to Mary (Canteen Manger) to ask if it’s possible to have ‘food from a different country’ theme day each month.

AOB

  • Extra ways to fundraise
    • Talent show
    • Singing contest
    • Pyjama days
    • Football penalty shootout
