Year 7 pupils visited Bodiam Castle yesterday and here is a selection of the comments about the trip:

“The Bodiam Castle trip was fun and interesting. It's a very big, beautiful castle with loads of room and defence features. The hardest bit was walking up and down the stairs because they were steep and curved around. The portcullis was used to stop enemies from getting inside the castle.”

Nyamka Mundle

“In Bodiam Castle I learnt that the peasants and warriors only got to eat bread and drink ale. Also when I went to the armour room the armour was steel and hard.”

Shinu Sreekumar

“We were there at 10am. It was not bad weather. When we went in I saw a portcullis with murder holes on top of it and another portcullis behind it. Bodiam Castle is in East Sussex. It has the scariest stairs and we got to put on archery costumes and take photos.”

Aswaq Rahman

“It was 10.30 when we got to Bodiam Castle. It looked massive. When we went inside we saw all the nice old rooms. After we saw the murder hole where people hit their enemies from above. We went in the armour room. The man showed us all the heavy armour and heavy weapons. We saw the portcullis - it was scary. It was an excellent trip.”
