Last month 18 pupils from Years 10 and 11 went to Paris for 3 days. We had a fantastic time visiting the sights and the pupils really made the most of the opportunity to practise their French. Two pupils have written about their experiences of the trip:

“In October, some Year 10 and 11 students went to France for 3 days. We had to be at East Croydon train station at 5am!! Once we got to France, we dropped our bags off at the hotel, then headed off to the centre of Paris. We went on a cruise on the Seine then went up the Eiffel Tower. We also went to Notre Dame cathedral and had the best ice-cream in Paris and we went to a chapel. We made friends with some French girls in the hotel and learnt a bit of French from them. Overall it was a great trip.”  Kerry Morris, Year 11

We spent the whole day doing some interactive activities, for example working individually and in pairs from booklets, singing some French phrases in a way that we would remember the vocabulary and watching and learning French from an acting group called Scratch.  They were great because one sketch showed how a beginner talks to a French waiter and says ‘Je voudrais une toilette’!  Another showed a student taking their speaking exam and he replied with one word answers in English with a French accent.
