Our extended services offer all local adults a wide range of courses, including our highly successful progression route into the childcare industry. Over the last five years we, with the assistance of training experts Smart Training, have helped more than 100 adults gain nationally recognised qualifications that have kick-started new careers. Even more impressively, more than half the learners qualifying have gained immediate employment as a result.
While the adults are training they are given childcare placements at nurseries, children’s centres and schools within the borough and many have not only gone on to further study but have also been offered full-time jobs once they have completed their course.
What’s more, the learners, for many of whom English is a second language, have achieved an exceptional pass rate of 95% - more than 30% higher than the national average for all training providers.
The childcare course is offered at extremely reduced rates (£50 for a year) with crèche places available whilst parents are studying and are on placement. Government funding for the full NVQ level 2 award is available to anyone in the Croydon area who is over 18 and not in education, employment or training (NEET) or claiming Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) or Employment and Support Allowance (ESA). All other adults can train on the school site and gain level 2 Open College Network accreditation certificates which also lead directly to employment.
All our courses offer extra help with literacy, numeracy and ICT where needed.
If you would like to join one of our adult courses please pick up a leaflet from school reception or download one from our website.
