The Box Tops - The LetterNot one but two important letters this week.

The first was from the department for children, schools and families (DCSF) informing us that our submission for redesignation as a specialist sports college had been successful.

This means we have met the “performance criteria” necessary to secure the additional funding which allows us to use the specialism to support sport both in the school and the wider community.  Developments in sport have undoubtedly had an impact on the school’s overall progress by contributing to its positive ethos and sense of teamwork.  This was very much recognised in the 2009 Ofsted report.

Congratulations to all involved in preparing for redesignation and ensuring our specialism has pervaded the whole school.

The second letter came from Alan Potter, the recently appointed Director of Education and Learning in Croydon.  He visited the school on Tuesday 29 September and wrote:

“You have done much to provide high quality teaching and learning and to supplement this with tailored support and guidance.  The focus on developing the potential of every individual person is commendable and contributes to give a community feel to the school.”
