Today marks a watershed for the pupils in year 11; their normal teaching timetable finishes and a special GCSE revision programme begins.
The examination season has begun and the early signs are very positive, with recent successes in maths and science modules and an excellent performance in English coursework. 109 pupils were entered for OCR ICT and all of them gained at least a “C” grade. PE and art practical assessments have gone very well as have the oral examinations in French and Spanish.
We all have very high hopes for this year’s final GCSE results. It is tempting at this time to wish year 11 “luck”. I would prefer however to remind them of a quotation from Thomas Jefferson, the third and very highly regarded President of the United States:
“I’m a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it.”
