Going the extra mile

“Going the extra mile” is an adaptation of a Commandment from the Sermon on the Mount.  According to the Gospel of Matthew ch.5: v.41, Jesus said:

“Whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain”

The saying has come to mean “making an extra effort” or “doing a particularly good job”.

I think it is fair to say that the staff here have been going the extra mile to ensure that our year 11 pupils achieve the very best GCSE results of which they are capable.  There have been special revision sessions for targeted pupils, coursework catch up sessions after school and at weekends, additional mentoring arrangements and extra mock examinations.

The programme continues into the Easter break with our staff being joined by national experts to deliver targeted sessions in English and mathematics as well as a range of support in other subjects being on offer.

From 13 May onwards there will be timetabled revision classes.  It is reassuring to know that we can rely on parents to ensure their children’s attendance on such occasions.

You will find elsewhere on our website (by following the links below) information regarding the success of pupils in a wide variety of activities.  None of this would happen without the commitment and support of the staff who are there to bring out the best in our multi-talented pupils.
