During the half-term break A P Thompson began work on our new 3g pitch which is due for completion in June 2010. Over the period of 16 weeks workers will be on the school site constructing the pitch and landscaping the surrounding area to ensure it has a minimal effect on our neighbours. An update of progress will be available on this website each week.

In 2009 The Archbishop Lanfranc School bid for funding from the DCSF to improve the sports facilities at the school. A bid was entered to provide a third-generation all-weather artificial grass pitch with floodlights. The DCSF awarded £350,000 towards the cost of the 3g-pitch and additional funding was sought to provide the shortfall. The Rugby Football League was approached and agreed to support the proposal to the amount of £250,000.

During the period 8.30am to 6pm the pitch will be exclusively available for school use. In the evenings and at weekends the pitch will be available for local community groups to hire. The project will see South London Storm RLFC and the family feeder clubs run by South London Community Rugby League re-locate to the school.
