What is it?

  • A kite mark for quality in careers education and guidance (CEG)
  • The most widely used standard of its type in England

The Investor in Careers Award was developed by Cornwall and Devon Careers in 1994. It is a quality standard for the management of careers education and guidance (CEG) in schools and FE colleges and is now used in a number of areas across the country involving hundreds of schools and FE colleges as well as special schools and special FE colleges. The use of independent external assessors/panel helps give the award credence.

Assessment is based on standards required by legislation or nationally produced guidelines on good practice, so schools/colleges are not being asked to do anything that is not already established as being of value to their students. The Award has been written and revised by careers education and guidance professionals, teachers and senior managers in schools.

Following an external evaluation by the University of Derby and feedback from schools, colleges and training providers throughout England the award has been developed into 3 ‘bite-sized’ stages, each carrying certification. This makes it accessible to many organisations.
